Wankaner: Jains protest monks' death in Bharuch mishap
Members of Jain community took out a silent march on Thursday here to protest two separate incidents wherein three Jain monks lost their lives. Those who joined the march included representatives of women's and youth organisations.
A memorandum was later submitted to the mamlatdar (tehsildar).
The memorandum carried a demand for fair probe into the 'conspiracy angle' into the road accident near Bharuch, as well as construction of separate lanes for Jain monks on highways.
An impression has gained ground in the Jain community that the monks from the community are being targeted.
To be noted, death of two Jain monks crushed by a truck at Vadadala village (near Bharuch) on NH-8 recently has sparked widespread anger in the community. A separate incident of a Jain monk being stabbed to death by another sadhu near Junagadh has added to the prevailing resentment.
