The proposed JVC will works with an objective of providing over 97,500 gas connections during next five years. Five CNG stations too would be made operational during this period.
“Majority parts of the city would be covered in phased manner after JVC starts working. We expect that the problem of gas pressure too will get solved with this initiative”, said Dr. Vijay Shah, chairman of the Standing Committee.
Municipal Commissioner and Additional City Engineer (gas project) would be among six directors of the JVC.
Oposition Congress, though welcoming the move, raised several objections. Councillor Chirag Zaveri said, “Citizens would be benefit only if gas is supplied at old rates, which we suspect won’t be the case. Also, the MoU was signed three years back. Why did it take so long to proceed?”
Localities like Vaasna, Chhani, Manjalpur, Gotri, Sama,Karelibaug and VIP road would benefit from the project.
