ncp declares candidate for gujarat election

Vadodara : In a bid to put pressure over its alliance partner Congress for staking larger pie in the assembly seats distribution for the upcoming elections in the state, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has unilaterally announced its candidate from the Akota seat in Vadodara district.

Party named Nilesh Patel as its candidate in a press conference here on Monday. Patel joined the party four years back.

“NCP will contest one seat in every district and Akota is our choice in Vadodara district”, NCP state unit president Jayant Patel said while addressing the press conference.

The announcement is intriguing, given the fact that negotiations between Congress and NCP over a possible tie-up are still in progress. At present NCP has 3 MLAs in 182-member assembly.
