To tap the potential of air-connectivity between major cities of Gujarat, Air Deccan is preparing to connect Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Surat and Kandla with a 9-seater mini-aircraft from August 15.
The number of flights is to be increased after assessment of response to the service. Surat and Bhavnagar being business hubs in diamonds and artificial jewelry respectively and Kandla being a major port, the move by the airline makes business sense.
The authorities at Bhavnagar airport have confirmed the communication, but declined to comment further. Sources claimed that the approval from higher authorities is yet to come.
SpiceJet began daily flights between Surat-Delhi-Mumbai just a few months ago, and Indian Airlines has been operational since Surat airport came up in 2010.
