“We will have no alliance with either Congress or NCP. Instead, we will contest on all 182 seats and get the numbers necessary to form the government”, said GPP leader, addressing a press conference, wherein he also announced a list of attractive poll promises titled ‘Parivartan Package’.
“Each of our 182 candidates will get 16 lakh rupees and publicity material for poll campaign. We have been promised funds by people”, added the veteran, when asked as to how the party shall bear poll expenses.
During the interaction, Keshubhai also said that his party wants to bring in anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare to campaign against CM Narendra Modi. The senior leader came down heavily on Baba Ramdev for ‘giving a clean chit’ to Modi-led Gujarat government. Keshubhai accused the yoga guru of ‘dual standards’ and pointed out that Baba had claimed of there being no corruption in Gujarat, despite the state government facing multiple allegations on that front.
Keshubhai also had his close political companion Gordhan Zadaphia by his side, who announced merger of his Mahagujarat Janata Party (MJP) with GPP. Speaking to reporters, Zadaphia said, “I am in Keshubhai’s party now, after having resigned from the primary membership of MJP, along with all other office-bearers.” He added that about 2.5 lakh workers of his party will join GPP.
On being asked if he will welcome Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for campaigning against Modi, Keshubhai said that anybody who is helpful in dislodging Modi government from power shall be welcomed.
