New Delhi : In a bid to lure more passengers, national carrier Air India Monday started an upgrade scheme for its economy class passengers on domestic network from 43 stations.

According to Air India, the scheme is a part of its ongoing airport upgrade offer 'Get Up Front' where passengers flying in economy class can avail upgrade to executive class at the airport on payment of a fixed minimum amount ranging from Rs.5,000-Rs.7,000, depending on distance being travelled.

"The offer is open to all passengers holding revenue tickets in economy class, including APEX (advance purchase airfares that provide discounted prices, but with restrictions) fares. The scheme is valid till Oct 31, 2014," the airline said.

"A similar upgrade scheme is also available for the international sectors up to June 31, 2014, the airline added.

The airline like many others is offering various schemes to lure more passengers this summer holiday season.

Flash sales and discounted offers seem to have become a norm for airlines to keep up the market share and fill aircraft seats to show for higher load factors.
